Anthony Chan, CEO of Isola Capital Group (“Isola”), joined a panel of private equity and venture capital veterans from the UK, Australia, India and Hong Kong to discuss investment strategies, experiences and opportunities in the Agrifood Tech space at evokeAG 2020 in Melbourne, Australia on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. evokeAG is the largest Agrifood Tech event in the Asia Pacific region; it was held at the Royal Exhibition Hall in Melbourne and attended by over 1,200 delegates from 21 countries. The core themes canvassed were Food, Farm, and Future. The event focused on exploring the latest developments in the Agrifood Tech space. Anthony had the opportunity to share Isola’s experience in successfully deploying over AUD50 million into four businesses in Australia’s Agrifood space in the past 3 years and how Agrifood Tech has been increasingly adopted by the portfolio companies, and across their suppliers and customers in the supply chain to solve challenges ranging from pest management, production yield, and by-product management.
“With the continued rise in global population and associated challenges to provide high-quality food source with appropriate nutritional value, there remains tremendous demand for Agrifood Tech innovation to help solve the global food supply shortage, improve production outcomes and deliver a sustainable global food supply chain in light of environmental challenges and climate change”, said Anthony. He also pointed out that “investors are increasingly recognizing the social impact of investing into agriculture and food businesses and Agrifood Tech, which are fundamental to human needs for sustenance, and there is universal desire to ensure everyone globally is able to access the required amount of protein, fiber and nutrition for a healthy life.”
